Best Elementary Schools in DC 2017: Here Are Niche’s Top 25 in the District

The popular online school rating site and directory, Niche, has named the top 25 best elementary schools in DC for 2017.

“The 2017 Best Public Elementary Schools ranking is based on rigorous analysis of key statistics and millions of reviews from students and parents using data from the U.S. Department of Education,” Niche states on their website. “Ranking factors include state test scores, student-teacher ratio, student diversity, teacher quality, grade school ratings, and the overall quality of the school district.”

According to Dan Taylor of the DC Patch, Northeast school Washington Yu Ying Public Charter School topped the list, followed by runner up Community Academy Public Charter School (CAPCS) in Northwest.

Academics were weighted the heaviest among the criteria, making up for 50 percent of the overall grade. The district overall Niche grade is weighted at 20 percent, and it is based on a “rigorous analysis of academic and student life data along with millions of reviews from students and parents,” Niche states.
