The new president-elect Donald Trump, is known to have made many promises on the campaign trail. One of them is most notably his pledge to provide $20 billion in federal funding towards giving parents more power to choose where they send their students to school. This plan comes with little details about how and when this can be achieved. There is however, brief mention of a push for private school vouchers and a considerable downsizing of the department of education. It is believed that even if the $20 billion program does not gain traction, as made evident by Georgia and Massachusetts voting down school choice ballot initiatives, Trump will still have major influence in the future of school choice programs.
